Itinerary

Landscape Photography Workshop Graubünden
30. August - 01. September 2019

Day 1 - August 30th

You will find our company van in the short-term parking lot on the north side of the Zurich HB at: Museumstrasse 1, 8001 Zurich. We'll rendezvous at 9:00 for the approx. 2-3 hour drive to the gondola base station at Flims – where the real adventure begins. On our way up the mountain (mix of gondola and short hike) we'll stop for a picnic lunch. An enjoyable hike brings us to our first basecamp at the cozy Segneshütte. We'll have the afternoon to explore around Segnesboden, followed by a short presentation on panoramic– and astro–photography before dinner. We'll then head out to catch the nicest light of the evening, and if it's a clear night, we'll be out shooting the night sky and milky way.

Day 2 - August 31st

Today we want to capture the first ray of sunlight which will hopefully kiss the surrounding mountains. With successfully captured photos, we'll enjoy breakfast 2100 meters above sea level. We pack our lunches and head out for some long-exposure shots at various spots. Photography tips and support on location. A roughly 75 min hike down to the cable car will bring us back to Flims again. Check in at our three-star accommodation in Flims. Depending on the weather we'll either head toward one of the nearby lakes or Ruinaulta for some landscape pictures.

Day 3 - September 01st

We'll take advantage of the quiet morning at lake Cresta. It's also a great location to sharpen your macrophotography skills. Breakfast at hotel and feedback session. Along the drive home, we'll stop at a nice location. The perfect time to capture the last photos or simply enjoy your packed lunch from the hotel. We'll aim to have you back at the Zurich HB around 18:00.

MATT ANDERSON

Professional photographer Matt Anderson directs the Viewfinder Center with his wife Dagmar. Before Matt moved to Switzerland, he studied journalism in the United States. As a daily newspaper photographer he acquired a broad base of photography skills and found himself shooting all manner of subjects from sports and news events to portraits and feature assignments. Working as a regular freelancer for the Associated Press, he learned some important lessons about shooting under pressure. These days he balances a busy teaching schedule with photography projects for commercial clients in the Zurich area. Matt's work has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Press Photographers Association (USA), and the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers.

MIKE BISSIG

Michael Bissig feels at home while photographing in the Swiss Alps. Although he lives near Zurich, he spends as much time as possible in the mountains. As a Swiss adventure and lifestyle photographer he concentrates mainly on shooting for the outdoor industry. His photographs of athletes and outdoor enthusiasts get used by companies like Mammut, the Swiss Alpine Club and various tourism agencies. Michael is able to draw on his extensive mountaineering and athletic experience for his outdoor project and adventure tours both at home and abroad, showing Viewfinder students how to get great shots in spite of negative temperatures, rain and stormy winds.
