Christmas lights Baden photography low light course

Baden is oozing with charm and is easily reached by train – making it an ideal low-light and night photography subject. This class is perfect for the intermediate photographer who’s interested in practicing with manual exposure settings, using long-exposure technique and experimenting with “HDR” (high dynamic range) technique to create awesome night photos. Pack your tripod, your wide angle lens, a warm hat and mittens and join us for an after-hours photography exploration of Baden’s old town. You’re certain to learn some new tricks and techniques that will surprise you and will change your approach to low-light photography.

Old town of Baden city.

Participants will need to purchase a tram ticket for Baden city. We’ll take public transportation from the Zurich HB.

This course is conducted in English and German.

Participants with an intermediate or advanced skill level will find this course interesting and enjoyable. Foundational photography skills, such as those covered in Viewfinder’s popular Digital Photography 1-2-3 Course are recommended.

We recommend a digital SLR type or a mirrorless system camera and a wide angle lens. A tripod is an essential item for this course. Don’t forget to charge up your camera battery beforehand. An extra battery may also come in handy. If you own a cable release (for triggering your camera’s shutter) please bring that as well.

No meal provided. We’ll grab a hot drink together toward the end of our shoot so we can discuss, review, etc.

This course begins with a short theory session followed by a walk to some of our favourite Baden night scenes and historic Old Town. Our shooting activity takes place during the post-sunset “blue hour.” Our group will spend about 30 minutes each in three different shooting locations. Your instructor will be available to assist with exposure and compositional questions. If time allows, the class will regroup at a nearby restaurant for a drink and informal picture review before departing.

Viewfinder Center photography instructor Susanne Venditti

Susanne Venditti

Susanne Venditti picked up her first camera 30 years ago and has never looked back. The switch to digital photography allowed her to push her creativity further and intensified her desire to produce more images. Susanne grew up in Kanton Valais, here in Switzerland – which helps explain her fascination with beautiful landscapes. Macro photography is one of Susanne’s biggest passions and she takes pleasure photographing the details that others miss. Susanne’s enthusiasm for nature is infectious and fun. Her landscape and macro expertise come in particularly handy on workshops and macro photography courses where she helps students find compositions where others wouldn’t look.
