The annual “Alpabfahrt” (cows descending from the summer alpine pastures) is a Swiss photography spectacle not to be missed! The Autumn farming ritual can be photographed in many places around Switzerland, but it’s tricky to know when and where to go for the best costumes and action. Join Viewfinder on a visit to one of Switzerland’s best Alpabfahrt events. Our instructors will provide you with camera tips and composition pointers that give you the advantage. Grab your camera gear and hiking shoes. This is your chance to capture fantastic cultural photos in the Swiss countryside!
We will head to the Graubünden region.
The Viewfinder van will pickup and drop off at the Zurich HB, departing at 07:30 and returning by ca. 17:30.
This trip is conducted in English but both trip leaders also speak German/Swiss German.
Open to all levels. Foundational photography skills, such as those covered in Viewfinder’s popular Digital Photography 1-2-3 Course are recommended.
We recommend either a digital SLR or mirrorless type camera. Medium length zoom lenses, such as a 24-70mm (for full-format cameras) or an 18-55mm zoom (for cropped format cameras) will be particularly handy for shooting the action. A medium telephoto lens or telephoto zoom, such as a 70-200mm or 70-300mm will come in handy for tighter shots from a distance. Solid footwear and warm clothing are must-haves.
Viewfinder will provide a sack lunch (sandwich, chips, apple, chocolate bar & water). Choose a sandwich during registration.
Minimum of 5 participants, Maximum of 10

GETTING IN TOUCH WITH US
If you have any questions or need to get in touch with us on the day of the event, please call the office line: +41 44 548 07 07 (we’ll have the phone forwarded) or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
Our group will rendezvous at the Zurich HB and drive up to Graubünden in the Viewfinder van. Upon arriving at our destination we’ll present some tips on composition and camera settings before we start pursuing our subjects on foot. Because the farmers travel from the hilly high country to the farming communities down valley, we’ll likely be walking with them for a while, staying out ahead of the farmers and animals, looking for ideal backgrounds as they meander down valley on closed country roads.
We’ll keep our sack lunches with us (provided by Viewfinder) to remain flexible at lunchtime. Stick close to your instructor if you’d like to get further help with your settings. We’ll depart in the late afternoon, returning to the Zurich HB at ca. 16:30.
