We recommend any "system camera" which has a changeable lens (such as those from Olympus, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Nikon or Canon). We are “brand-agnostic” at Viewfinder, so any camera brand is just fine. A medium length zoom or fixed lens (e.g. 24-70mm, 50mm or 85mm) is perfect. If you own a 50mm ("standard lens") please bring it with. We have several 50mm lenses for Nikon and Canon cameras which you are welcome to borrow during the course. Please be sure to charge your camera's battery and don't forget to bring a memory card with you.
Our Studio Portrait Photography Course is an intermediate level course, open to anyone who has a solid fundamental knowledge of camera settings such as what is covered in our popular 1-2-3 Digital Photography Course . Extensive flash experience is not required. If you are new to studio portraiture, then this is a great place to dive in!

Erwin Windmüller's photographic career has taken him around the globe and introduced him to many of the world’s best and brightest. After cutting his teeth as an agency photographer in Zurich, he moved on to photograph for the biggest brands in fashion, living in Paris and New York for more than 20 years before returning to his home country of Switzerland. In addition to photographing for Vogue, Elle, GQ, L’Oreal, and Yves Saint Laurent, Erwin shoots regularly for Swiss Universe (the 1st– and business class magazine for Swiss airlines). A powerhouse of energy and creativity, Erwin is as approachable and thoughtful as he is enthusiastic for the craft of photography. He likes to share his knowledge with the studio portrait photography students.
