EXPERIENCE LEVEL

Open to all skill levels. Foundational photography skills, such as those covered in our popular Digital Photography 1-2-3 series are recommended.

EQUIPMENT

We recommend any "system camera" which has a changeable lens (such as those from Olympus, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, Nikon or Canon). We are “brand-agnostic” at Viewfinder, so any camera brand is just fine. A wide to medium zoom lens, such as 24-70mm or 18-55mm will come in handy when the action is close. Longer zooms, such as 24-120mm or 70-200mm are great for tighter shots when shooting from further away. Please be sure to charge your camera's battery and don't forget to bring a memory card with you.

LOCATION

Van pick up at Zurich HB, Museumstrasse 1, 8001 Zurich.

Instructor

MATT ANDERSON

Matt Anderson is Viewfinder's lead photography instructor and is responsible for course development and for teaching a number of Viewfinder’s photography courses and workshops. Matt’s photography career began in the USA where he worked at three different daily newspapers and freelanced regularly for the Associated Press in Seattle — where he grew up. These days he regularly shoots for the Zurich-based Keystone agency and works with corporate and private clients in the Zurich area. Matt’s three passions are: exploring new places (near and far), creating impactful photographs, and helping other photographers become more creative and effective in their craft. Matt feels privileged to work in a business that combines his passions and brings him in contact with so many interesting people from all over the world.

Student Testimonials

I learned a great deal in just one day and it has fired my enthusiasm to become more than just a hobby photographer. Great fun and very inspiring.
Rod T.
I loved the approach of Dagmar and Matt. I've been on several trips that have allowed me to access parts of my camera (and Switzerland) that would have otherwise passed me by. I have taken good photos and met fabulous people along the way.
Angela B.
Having participated in many events and workshops, I repeatedly enjoy Viewfinder's highly professional, friendly approach which is continuously demonstrated during each activity. Viewfinder's great team have turned every event into a memorable experience and without reservation I highly recommend them. I'm looking forward to participate in many more trips and activities with Viewfinder...

Day-Trip Information

Upon arriving at our destination, we'll present some tips on compostion and camera settings before we start pursuing our subjects on foot. Because the farmers travel from the hilly high country to the farming communities down valley, we'll likely be walking with them for a while, staying out ahead of the farmers and animals, looking for ideal backgrounds as they meander down valley.
